Meet the Teams
Team GV
Chaos, Confidence & One Actual Golfer | Odds to win: -150
On paper, Team GV shouldn't work. One guy is actually trying to win, one guy thinks he's better than he is, one guy retired the driver out of self-defense, and one guy swings like he's auditioning for the World Long Drive Championship. Somehow, it all balances out. Landries is the silent assassin, Zlomek talks enough for the whole foursome, Lyman is busy calculating whether the five iron can reach every hole on the course, and Burton is one swing away from either driving the green or taking out a family in the next fairway. They spend more time roasting each other than complimenting each other, but when things start clicking, they're dangerous.
Somewhere between the trash talk, questionable club selections, and Zlomek's ongoing battle with punctuality, Team GV found a recipe that works. Landries provides the birdies, Zlomek provides the noise, Lyman provides the hot dogs, and Burton provides the occasional 500-yard missile.
Strengths: Birdies, chirping, and irrational confidence.
Weaknesses: Tee shots, punctuality, and letting Zlomek talk himself into hero shots
Team World
Vibes, Variance & Blind Optimism | ODDS TO WIN +175
Nobody in the field is quite sure what to make of Team World. Some holes they'll look unbeatable. Other holes you'll swear none of them have played golf since last July. Williamson is the steady hand keeping everything together, at least until day two. Franz keeps the vibes high, even when his own scorecard says otherwise. Pierce is convinced his latest grip change will keep his freshly purchased TP5s out of the woods, and newcomer Cody Hughes is either about to carry the team or forget how golf works entirely. That's the beauty of Team World: nobody knows who's showing up, but somebody usually does.
Despite the constant swing changes, questionable decisions, and Hughes's ongoing battle with staying awake, Team World somehow works. Williamson provides the golf, Franz provides the vibes, Pierce provides the laughs, and Hughes provides the mystery box. If two of these guys get hot at the same time, Team GV might be in trouble.
Strengths: Team chemistry, momentum, and refusing to panic.
Weaknesses: YouTube tutorials, sleep schedules, and weed.
